Today has been a weird day, a mix of both good and bad, actually not bad just a little sad (lost something I rather wouldn’t have lost) so I’m left in a funny mood… Not knowing what to do, I ended up at the internet net archive I’ve been there before and had fun looking at some other websites I remember reading but for some reason never thought to check out this site… Its been around for a while in one way or another… The first page I made was back in July 1997 with my blitter queue code :-) (The zip seems not to open on some modern zip depackers but some work).

Been a long time, 8 years! Around the time I got my first job, not sure its made me feel less sad but does remind me how fast life moves, its incredible to think that I’ve moved from my first job to Lead Code Ninja (part of the good things today, that my title for an Edge article ;-) ) in 8 years. Moved from software rasterisor and hardware blitters to multi-core chips and shader hardware. Game-wise we have moved from Doom to err Doom3, from FFVII to err FFVII remakes and from GTA to err GTA3.

We really need some new game ideas. Feel its something I should spend some time on again, been doing other things recently but to be honest I’m a computer gamer and nothing else… No point trying to change my spots… So back into me hole that has served me well.

I’ve been tossing ideas around for a while, a few months ago I was chatting to Wil about a game based on a garden simulator. Maybe I should explore that for a while, else I’ve always wanted to do a 2D game, maybe a RTS or old-school RPG… Need to have a think I guess… Maybe something net based…

I’ve got to finish my GDCE article (about PC to PS3) this weekend and have a Build and QA doc for work (Its late, surprise surprise). And of course Japanese homework but still should get some time to give my game stuff a think and get back to it in a serious way…
